The Basics

* What's included in the base ticket price?

What's included in the base ticket price varies by retreat. As a general rule, accomodations, all meals including snacks, and core educational components are included your ticket price. Retreat exclusives such as literary agent consults, excursions, and transfers can be purchased separately when you register. Check the specific retreat page for more information.

* Who is organizing this retreat?

Entrelinhas Retreats are organised by poet and creative non-fiction writer, Lucianna Chixaro Ramos with help from our Porto Writers' Workshop community.

*Do I need to write in English?

No. Our retreat will be primarily hosted in English, but all workshop programming will also be available in Portuguese. Our resident literary agent can read and respond to your work in English, Portuguese or Spanish. Likewise, our "Office Hours" editorial coach will also be able to read and respond to work in English and Portuguese.

*Do I need to be a published writer to attend?

Not at all. In alignment with our decolonial ethos, we welcome writers of any level or publishing intent.

*Can I write in any genre or format?

Yes. We welcome writers working in all genres, including hybrid forms. All of our workshops include genre breakout sessions.

The Spring '27 Craft & Community Retreat

* How many writers will be attending the spring '27 Craft & Community retreat?

We have space for nine writers.

* Who is this retreat for?

Entrelinhas Retreats are organised by poet and creative non-fiction writer, Lucianna Chixaro Ramos with help from our Porto Writers' Workshop community.

* What will a typical day look like?

It depends on what you choose to participate in. We offer optional retreat exclusives including guided hikes, feedback circles, and one-on-ones with a literary agent or editorial coach. To see a sample schedule, click here.

* Will there be structured writing sessions?

Yes, there will be a two-hour craft workshop led by poet and nonfiction writer Lucianna Chixaro Ramos, a self-paced revision course, and one 90-minute somatic session with writer, educator, and activist, Maureen P. Medina. You will also receive daily somatics exercises which you can complete on your own. You can also opt to participate in the feedback group.

* Are there group activities or excursions?

There will be plenty of opportunities to connect with other writers through shared meals, daily gruop exercises, and our traditional communal cooking session, where we will all help prepare a meal together. On the last night, we will also host a Sarau-style group reading and party. Additionally, you can also opt to participate in a hike guided by an experienced local guide.

* What should I bring?

We will send all participants a packing list prior to the retreat, but in a nutshell, you should bring:

  • Your preferred writing materials
  • Comfortable clothing (keep an eye on the weather - April in Portugal is variable)
  • Slippers or sandals
  • A water bottle
  • Hiking appropriate footwear, if you're attending the guided hike
  • * Will photos be taken during the retreat?

    Yes, the organizers will be taking photos and videos during the retreat. However, you can opt out of your photos being used in marketing materials on our registration form. Additionally, we will share an online photo album with each cohort's participants. You may add any photos you'd like to the album as well.

    Meals at Entrelinhas Retreats

    * Are all meals included?

    Yes, all meals are included during our spring and summer sessions. We'll be providing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, as well as wine and soft drinks. You can purchase extra snacks and drinks from the nearby supermarket just a 5 minute walk from the house. If you have any special requests, let us know on the registration form.

    * Can you accomodate dietary restrictions?

    Yes, we can accomodate almost all dietary restrictions, including vegan and gluten-free. However, if you have Celiac Disease, please know that we cannot guarantee there will be no gluten cross-contamination, because all meals are prepared in the same kitchen.

    * Can I bring my own food and drinks?

    If you can store it safely in your room, you may bring your own snacks and drinks. However, the fridge will not be available to store participant snacks. If you have medication that must be refrigerated, please let us know so we can accomodate you.

    * Are there restaurants and supermarkets nearby?

    In Minde, our Craft & Community retreat location, there are plenty of restaurants and a major supermarket within walking distance.

    Logistics & Accomodations

    * Is there Wi-Fi?

    There is reliable Wi-Fi throughout our spring retreat venue. You'll find QR codes on each floor.

    * I'm travelling alone. Can I book a shared/double room?

    Yes, you can sign up for a shared room if traveling alone. We'll pair you with another solo traveler.

    *If I book a shared/double room, will I get to choose who I room with?

    If you are booking with a friend, please send us an email with your roommate's contact information when you complete your registration form. You'll need to attach your payment receipt. If you are travelling alone, we will pair you with a writer that identifies as the same gender.

    *Can I bring a partner who is not a writer?

    As this is a writer's retreat, we'd prefer to keep it to writers only.

    *Is the retreat accessible to people with reduced mobility?

    Yes, there are rooms on the ground floor that don't require climbing stairs. There is also a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

    *Is there parking on site?

    Yes, there is plenty of parking on the grounds of the Quinta and just outside of it.

    *Is transportation provided from the nearest bus/train station?

    Yes, for a small extra fee, we will pick you up at Fatima station.

    Booking

    * How do I book a spot?

    You can find step-by-step instructions on our Registration page.

    * Is there a payment plan?

    Yes, you can pay 50% of your total as a deposit in order to reserve your spot. The remainder is due on February 1, 2027.

    * What's your cancellation policy?

    Entrelinhas is committed to remaining accessible to both local and immigrant writers. As such, your initial deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations made up to 60 days before the retreat start date are eligible for a 25% refund. Cancellations made within 60 days of the retreat are non-refundable. Resale of tickets must be pre-approved by our team.

    * Do you offer refunds?

    Please see the answer above for our cancellation policy. If the retreat is cancelled for any reason, we will refund 100% of your cost. There will be no refunds after the retreat.
